This design is supporting a water culture center located in Copenhagen, Denmark. 'Our Urban Living Room' is about architecture – not just how it affects the development of our cities, but how it sets the conditions for peoples’ daily lives. Urban culture is rapidly transforming from private to public, challenging our daily routines to negotiate a lot more frequently between our interior and exterior environments. This sets new requirements for defining a successful, livable city.
The number of urban events today outnumbers the number of home events during the average person’s week. What if we applied the social qualities of our homes to the surrounding city? We could design them with the same care and attention to detail as we do with our homes. Perhaps then our cities would serve as urban living rooms for everyone.
